Urban Ministry Resources

Urban environments present many unique challenges to ministry.  To deal this unique context, the discipline of urban ministry has been formed.  Below are a few urban ministry websites that offer a variety of resources for the urban context.


Impact Church of Christ, Houston, TX
This exciting work was started by three preachers as their self-confessed "mid-life crisis."  However, now this church is a vibrant, transformative tool for Christ in the downtown Houston area.  Ministries include a distribution center, youth development program, literacy program, at-risk day school, and extensive summer day camp.

Mission: NYC
This network of workers and church plants is centered at the Manhattan Church of Christ in New York City.  Currently teams are working in central Bronx, Manhattan, and among the Russian-speaking populations of Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Plans are underway for an additional plant in the Tribecca community of Manhattan.

NY School of Urban Ministry
Located in Queens, NY, this school offers workshops and campaigns in one of the largest, most diverse, and most amazing cities in the world.

River City Ministry
Located in North Little Rock, AR, this ministry includes a distribution center, health center, and youth program among other things.  In 2003, RCM is hosting the Urban Ministries Conference.

UrbanConference.org: Nation Urban Ministry Conference
This site details the annual National Urban Ministry Conference.  The conference is hosted in a different city in the US each year and includes workshops, classes, presentations, and lectures on various aspects of urban ministry.  The 2003 the conference entitled Building the Family of Faith will be held in Little Rock, AR.
